Description
If you wanted to improve your navigation skills then this type of session may be for you.
You can be taught basic navigation (similar syllabus to Bronze NNAS) to help improve your confidence up to and including more advantaged navigation skills and techniques (similar syllabus to Silver NNAS/MT Hill/Mountain Skills courses) to give you the confidence to venture out onto the hills knowing that you have the skills to get yourself around safely.
Please note these are not NNAS or Mountain Training courses but purely bespoke courses for your development.

6-8 hours. These will be a two-day courses

Suited for
Most abilities and ages (depending on location and requirements). Previous hill walking/navigation experience will be needed for the more advanced courses due to the nature of the topic covered and the locations used

Reasonable health, fitness and mobility depending on what you choose to do.

Late Feb – October. These will be open courses advertised on the website whereby you can choose to book
Location
Wye Valley & South Wales (Brecon Beacons National Park East or West)
You will need:
- Clothing to suit the weather conditions on the day (warm clothes, hat, gloves, water proof jacket/trousers, sun protection etc)
- Food and drink that you feel you may need for both days
- Footwear suitable for walking over/through wooded terrain/hilly/mountainous terrain and the time of year (walking shoes or boots)
- Rucksack (30-40L is a good size)
- Map and compass if you choose to bring them
- Map case (optional but a good idea)
- Small personal first aid kit
- Head torch and spare batteries
- Any medication that you may need or prescribed.
- You will need to arrange your own overnight accommodation
- Previous hill/mountain walking and basic navigation experience is required for the advanced courses
You will be supplied with:
Maps of the area
Silva type 4 compass
Group safety equipment will be carried by the instructor along with a group first aid kit.
